Yup. I put a picture on my blog

I'm trying this out. Some frou-frou to go with the new blog design. Big step for no-nonsense me. But I asked my friend Christine Ahern to take some photos of the books in my study last night--thanks Christine!--and I actually figured out how to turn a photo into a "gadget" and attach it here.

Now the question is--does the photo make the blog take too long to load? Is it too busy? Would people prefer my words of wisdom unadorned? Does it make my butt look big?

LOL. It's a photo. You did good. Now tell us more about writing. :)

Actually I think it really adds a very nice touch to your blog. I would definitely leave it on. And no it didn't take too long to load at all. Part of 'selling' our product (our words) is nice packaging, so definitely keep it. We all like books, so I think it's a winner.

Nice job!

I think the pic is gorgeous, Anne! Didn't add a second to my loading time.

Pretty!!!

Not that your blog needs prettification (okay, so maybe not a word but I like it) it's a treasure trove without the pictorial bling.

Still, I do like the addition very much.

Love the photo, and it did not take a second longer to load! I'd definitely leave it on...and nope, doesn't make your butt look big, either! :D

Hi Anne,
I'm with those who've cast the first few votes. Christine's photo looks great and adds some visual panache to your bon mots. Also, I celebrate this newsmaking moment - you've shown that a classy photo of beautifully arranged books does not add to the perceived size of a blogger's derriere.

No problem loading and looks great.

Well, if I do say so myself, and I guess I do, I think it looks fabulous! Good choice. I did rather overload you with options.

Thanks everybody--especially the multi-gifted Christine! (She writes pretty, too.) I guess the picture stays in the picture.

I like it a lot; it looks very accomplished. I wonder what those intresting old tomes are?

Anne R. Allen said...

Since you asked, Simon, most of those are antique books I inherited from my father. The big one is a copy of Pilgrim's Progress that's about 200 years old. The tiny ones are little copies of Shakespeare's plays from 1880 or thereabouts. But the face-out paperback, called "Academic Body" is my mom's new mystery novel--available at Amazon. A fun read about nefarious deeds in small town academia in the 1960s.

The picture is great! And no problems loading, but the technophiles in my house make sure we have (nearly) the fastest internet known to man.
