Where have all my followers gone?
Blogger seems to have spirited away my whole followers window this morning. Anybody out there having the same problem? Got any suggestions for a fix? This is so weird. You can still follow me if you go to the menu across the top of the blog. (In a very small font in the left top area.) Or you can subscribe if you scroll a-a-all the way down past where the follower window is supposed to be. Thanks Ann Marquette for pointing this out!

Same problem, just trying to find a fix. The frustrating thing is I think we just have to wait for blogger to pick it back up. But glad to know I'm not the only one...the difficult part is that for us writer/bloggers, followers/readers are what we depend on! Oh well, its a matter of time before its fixed I suppose.

Yes, it's pretty widespread. My followers window went down yesterday and came back up today but I've just checked and it's gone again. I guess they'll get round to sorting it, maybe!
I've noticed it too. I am hoping that Blogger is having these problems because they are making themselves even better than ever.

Just got introduced to your blog and wanted to read more. Thanks for the heads up about Followers. Mine went AWOL, too. It's a mystery that must be solved; therefore, a new book idea: "Who Moved My Followers? And other annoying reasons social media sucks you in and won't let go."
Yes, it's a widespread problem. Mine have vanished too but I can see they're still there on the dashboard. Occasionally they reappear so my guess is some Google server is overloaded and timing out. There have been various other problems of late too : signing in problems and people saying they can't comment. I guess all we can do is wait ...
It is a widespread problem. I haven't visited a site yet that didn't have its followers window shut down. Hey, Blogger! It's rude to shut someone else's window!

Thanks guys! Misery loves company and all that. It does help to know it's not just me. I visited a Blogger blog a moment ago that doesn't have the problem, so we aren't all afflicted, but a lot are. It's enough that I think the Blogger elves must be trying to fix it by now. Let's hope things are back to normal soon. I'm getting tweets from potential followers who are feeling frustrated.
My list is gone too, but somehow people still seem able to follow. A couple of days ago, I couldn't comment on any blogs. Had to log in through Live Journal to be able to comment on blogs whose owners had paid me visits. Let's hope blogger manages to get things back to normal soon.
Blogger recently seems to be performing in fits and starts. My followers window is missing also. I notice though that my dashboard data for blogs I follow is still intact so everyone's data is probably still intact. But it is annoying since a few days ago, the commenting ability malfunctioned for some, not all bloggers. I had to reset my settings in order to be able to comment on my own blog. Others have reported a similar experience. As others suggest, it may be that Blogger is undergoing maintenance, but it is annoying when one is not informed.
I noticed it too but Blogger hasn't made any announcements. Nothing on the buzz blog either.
I think it's the continued change over to the new blogger and the snappy new widgets & tools.

Mine's been down for about 3 days. Sometimes it will pop up. Yours is up right now if that's any consolation. :)
Now that's interesting. The number on my dashboard says I've got two new followers, but I don't know who they are. I also got two tweets from people who said they couldn't follow. I can't see any followers, but Michelle can. I wonder if it's different in different browsers? I'll check out Firefox...
The more I see of blogger the more I'm glad I opted for wordpress. They both have their pros and cons, I'm sure, but blogger just seems to be one problem ater another recently.
And indeed not so recently.
Commenting on a blogger blog from wordpress is a game of chance and has been for some time.
I find I nowadays need to copy the post as back-up, then try first with my wordpress ID, then as name and URL when blogger tells me I don't own my own wordpress ID.
And if neither work then try again an hour later, when it will suddenly work fine.
Not the way to encourage interaction...
BTW this is now the third attempt.
My followers box came back up and I lost 2 followers. Sadness...

So sorry Michelle! How's this for weirdness?--I can now see my followers in Firefox, but not Chrome.
Mark, so sorry it took three tries. I agree wordpress makes it easier to comment. But most wordpress blogs have no follow button, so I have to bookmark. My bookmark folder is getting so totally overloaded it's pretty useless. Still, if I could move a blog intact, I might do it. But you can't take your followers with you--you have to start from scratch.
Anne, you need to discover Google Reader! Do you use that? You can add any RSS feed into there and it will keep it all organized for you. It will save your life. So even if I like a Wordpress blog and I can't click in a followers box, I can still follow it by manually adding it to my Google Reader feed (which, by the way, whenever you follow a blog from a followers box, it is automatically added).
I had the same prob!! Whew, I just checked and they're back, all my lovely tiny faces. It was down and gone for 2-3 days, though. Just be patient.

Yay! You're back!! I hope this is permanent now. We're no longer widget-less. Oh, the trials of the electronic age! And many, many thanks to the new followers who braved the Blogger-follower-napping, and followed anyway.
My followers have disappeared and reappeared several times over the last few days. I thought it was a computer problem I was having.

I've had the same problems. I can't get into Blogger at all and have to read in Google Reader and this morning, the posts are up, but not the pictures or videos. It's like the Blogger has gone apocolyptic. Maybe it is the end of the world as we know it.
Blooger seems to be playing up big time for ages! I can't sign out, then I can't sign in. Then when I am signed in it doesn't seem to keep signed in yet I can still see my blog and the blogs a I follow but I can't update my blog. I can't even post a comment under my name.
I had the same problem. My followers vanished for about three days. Now they're back but Google/Blogger doesn't recognize me and won't let me post comments either.

This has just happened to me twice in the past week. Does anyone know how to get it back or are we just supposed to wait for the blogger gods to replace the follower list?
Barbara, I don't think there's much we can do, but my followers widget always comes back in a day or two. It happens periodically. Sometimes I play around with signing out and signing in again, which is supposed to help, but I think maybe it only helps because it feels like you're doing something. :-)
Fabulous blog, I have the same problem, my followers have dissappeared how do you fix the problem ?
I've been foot-dragging about starting a blog, but know I must, with 3 novels to promote. Is this a big fat sign to go with Wordpress? Blogger's appeal is that it is supposed to be easier, but if it's giving you all conniptions I'd better slow down and choose wisely. (I'm also waiting for new cover art lest I seem like too big a coward.)
